Chico Performances

CSU, Chico Logo

For decades, California State University, Chico has connected the North State to extraordinary artists, speakers and cultural experiences through Chico Performances. As the University’s performing arts and lecture series, Chico Performances brings nationally and internationally recognized musicians, authors, dance companies, comedians and theatrical productions to Chico, creating opportunities to experience the arts and new perspectives close to home.

Each season features a wide range of performances, from acclaimed musicians and bestselling authors to family-friendly productions and cultural events. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite artist, sharing a performance with your family or seeing a world-renowned speaker live, Chico Performances connects North State audiences with exceptional experiences from around the world.

A Historic Home for the Arts

Many Chico Performances events take place in Laxson Auditorium, one of Chico State’s most recognizable landmarks. Since opening in 1931, Laxson has welcomed generations of students, community members and visitors through its doors.

Over the years, the stage has hosted celebrated artists and public figures including Yo-Yo Ma, David Sedaris, Fran Lebowitz and Jane Goodall, along with countless musicians, performers and speakers who have helped shape the cultural life of our region. Nearly a century later, Laxson Auditorium remains a place where audiences can experience remarkable performances without leaving Chico.

Part of University Public Engagement

Chico Performances is part of Chico State’s University Public Engagement department, which connects the University and the broader community through arts, culture and public events. In addition to Chico Performances, University Public Engagement oversees North State Symphony, Laxson Auditorium, the University Box Office, concessions services, Commencement, and a variety of campus and community events.

Together, these programs help make Chico State a cultural hub for the North State, creating opportunities to learn, connect and experience something new.

Whether you’re joining us for the first time or have been attending for years, we invite you to explore the season and see what’s possible through live performance.
